Beauty Tools Guide earns a commission when you buy through the Amazon links in our product sections. That does not change which products we show, and no brand pays to be listed. This page explains the rules behind every pick so you can judge them for yourself.
What a product has to pass
- It matches the article. A thinning shears guide lists thinning shears, not “related” items. If fewer than six products of that exact type meet the bar, we say so and only then widen to closely related tools.
- It is a real, in-stock listing. We check the product page on Amazon on the day we write or update the post. Sponsored results are excluded.
- Customer ratings are strong and numerous. We look for about 4.2 stars or higher from several hundred reviews or more, and we read the critical reviews for recurring faults.
- No more than two products from one brand, so a list is a comparison rather than a catalogue.
- It does not contradict the advice in the article. If the guide says to avoid a feature, we will not recommend a product that has it.
- We do not quote prices. Prices change daily, so the product block shows Amazon’s live price instead.
How the advice is researched
Every article starts with what the tool does to skin or hair and why, drawing on sources such as the American Academy of Dermatology, Cleveland Clinic, the FDA, NHS guidance, peer-reviewed studies and manufacturers’ own specification and care pages. Where the evidence is mixed, the article says so. Specific figures appear only when we can point to the source.
What we do and do not test
We are a small site and we do not run a lab. Where an article describes hands-on use of a product, it says so in the text. Where it does not, the recommendation rests on the criteria above, the manufacturer’s specifications and the pattern in verified customer reviews, not on our own testing. We would rather tell you that plainly than imply a test that did not happen.
Who checks the content
Articles are planned, fact-checked and edited by Rakib Sarwar, a registered pharmacist with a cosmetology qualification. He is not a dermatologist or a licensed esthetician, and the site does not offer medical advice. For any skin or scalp condition, see a professional.
Updates and corrections
Product lists are reviewed when stock, ratings or the product itself changes. If you find a listing that no longer meets these rules, or a factual error, contact us and we will correct it. See also our affiliate disclosure.
